Egypt: A Destination for EveryoneIf you’re thinking about going on holiday to Egypt, then you will know that Egypt offers sights, sounds and experiences that even the fussiest of travellers can enjoy. From sightseeing to diving and camel trekking, there is so much to do on holiday in Egypt, and all these activities are easy to do and most importantly, enjoyable. Beach Breaks At first glance, Egypt doesn’t seem the kind of destination to travel to if you want to lie around on the beach or take part in water sports, such as diving or sailing. But Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sharm el Sheikh is quickly becoming a haven for holidaymakers who want to have a break from the traditional beach holiday destinations in Spain, the Canary Islands and Greece. White sandy beaches and crystal clear water, home of some of the world’s most rare tropical fish, also make this destination one of the most beautiful in the region. Sightseeing There are a number of reasons that Egypt is so famous, and one of them is the pull of the artefacts of Ancient Egypt, such as the pyramids and the Valley of the Kings. Home to 138 pyramids and counting, the most famous and some of the largest structures are found in Giza, just outside Cairo, such as the Pyramid of Khufu, the biggest Egyptian pyramid and the only surviving example of the seven wonders of the ancient world still standing. Shopping Egypt’s most recommended shopping experience is based in Cairo’s Khan-el-Khalili, a medieval market that sells almost everything you can imagine, from basic Egyptian souvenirs, to household items, such as ornaments and cloth and a number of spices, herbs, and imitation antique and precious jewellery. This market can be very noisy and crowded, so if you want to go somewhere a little more comfortable, the more modern shops can be found in Cairo’s Tahrir Square. If you manage to find a cheap holiday to Egypt, then you’ll be able to spend more on gifts for loved ones, or even just a few things for yourself.
